From Tradition to Transformation

Nestled in the heart of Clogga, Co. Kilkenny, Gort Fia Farm has deep roots in Irish dairy farming. For many years, the land was devoted entirely to dairy cows and beef cattle — a tradition that shaped its character and community. Now, we’re taking the farm back to its origins as a mixed-purpose holding, bringing together the best of old and new.

Our goal is to honour traditional farming values while embracing a modern, sustainable approach. We’re reintroducing diversity to the land — nurturing soil health, encouraging biodiversity, and producing a wider range of wholesome foods. The farm is always evolving: today we have dairy, beef, vegetables, fruit, and free-range eggs. Soon, we’ll be welcoming bees and pigs to join the rhythm of Gort Fia, continuing the cycle of growth and renewal that defines our farm.

We believe in progression through respect — for the land, the animals, and the people who enjoy what we make. Each season brings something new, yet our guiding principles remain constant: care, balance, and the timeless connection between farmer and field.

Animal Welfare &
Farming Practices

At Gort Fia Farm, animal welfare guides every part of what we do. Our animals are raised slowly and naturally, with space to roam, graze, and live in a calm, low-stress environment. We believe that healthy, content animals produce better milk, eggs, and meat — and that respect for them is at the core of good farming.

While we’re not a certified organic farm, we’re continually improving how we care for our land and livestock. We use a balanced approach — combining traditional knowledge with modern methods to maintain soil health and productive pastures. Natural practices such as crop rotation, grazing management, and biodiversity planting in the garden are key principles.

For us, sustainability means responsibility — making practical choices that keep the land healthy, the animals thriving, and the farm productive for generations to come.
